Qi’Nergy Postpartum Care
Qi’Nergy Postpartum Care
What is Qi’Nergy Postpartum Care
Qi’Nergy Postpartum care by Singapore Paincare TCM Wellness is a programme for women after childbirth. After delivery, women would have depleted an enormous amount of Qi and Blood, thus often suffer from blood stagnation and yin-yang imbalances. Together with the physical and mental exhaustion from childcare and breastfeeding, women face a weakening of their bodies which may lead to a variety of postpartum symptoms and illnesses such as:
- Urinary incontinence
- Postpartum depression
- Abdominal pain or separation (diastasis recti)
- Insufficient lactation
- Joint pain
What are the postpartum (or post-pregnancy) imbalances that women experience after childbirth?
1. Qi and blood deficiency
Labour can lead to a huge amount of blood loss, resulting in Qi disharmony which could cause low milk supply. A lack of Qi in the spleen and stomach is responsible for poor appetite, nausea, vomiting and constipation. Qi deficiency in the liver and kidney results in joint pain and muscle aches.
2. Yin and Yang Imbalance
There is a huge demand for kidney qi to nourish the foetus. Coupled with the huge blood loss during labour, mothers will tend to have yin deficiency after childbirth. This can result in yin-yang imbalance, causing excessive night sweats, insomnia, and postpartum depression.
3. Blood stagnation
After pregnancy, the channels leading to the womb are open for cold to enter. This results in abdominal pain and abnormal lochia (postpartum discharge of blood, mucus, and uterine tissue). Stagnancy in the heart meridian can also cause mood swings and insomnia.
Postpartum Care Treatment Methods
Qi’Nergy Postpartum Tuina
Tuina strokes are applied on the meridian lines and acupoints to improve energy, correct imbalances and improve blood flow, thus speeding up recovery. It targets the entire body including stimulating the uterus to contract, removing water retention, reducing wind, and activating toxin discharge.
Acupuncture uses needles to stimulate acupoints, meridians, muscles, and nerves to unblock the flow of Qi in the body. This restores our bodies’ natural healing abilities.
This is a FDA-approved, non-invasive technology that helps to build muscles and burn fat simultaneously. It uses high intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIEMT) to trigger intense supramaximal muscle contractions at targeted areas such as the abdomen, arms, legs, and buttocks.
The electromagnetic pulses generated from the device will stimulate muscle contractions equivalent to 20,000 sit-ups in a single treatment (which is not possible through physical means). For women after childbirth, this therapy addresses postpartum issues such as Diastasis Recti (separation of the ab muscles during pregnancy) and urinary incontinence as electromagnetic energy applied at pelvic floor helps to stimulate abdominal remodelling and repair by fusing muscle fibres together.
HI-EMT is also beneficial for those individuals, looking to tone and sculpt body and reduce body fats in an efficient manner.

- Qi & blood replenishment: Nourish the organs which strengthen your physical health, improve immunity, and prevent the invasion of “external evils” such as coldness, dampness, and wind.
- Uterus contraction and hormone regulation: Promote uterus contraction and regulate hormones back to pre-pregnancy levels.
- Improve mood swings: Stimulate nerve cells to release endorphins, improving depression, anxiety, and stress.
- Relieve joint pain: Stimulate blood flow and the release of endorphins to relieve back pain and leg cramps.
- Promote lactation: Acupuncture can increase prolactin levels in the blood, which stimulates milk secretion.

How is Qi’Nergy Postpartum Tuina different from traditional Malay postpartum massage?
Traditional Malay massage for new mothers involves the use of natural oils, traditional herbs, hot compresses, and belly binding to tighten loose skin in the tummy area after childbirth. This is usually done during the first month immediately following delivery.
Conversely, TCM Postpartum Tuina achieves positive results as the pressure is targeted at acupoints along meridian channels to regulate your body’s energy and clear blockages. Aside from helping you regain your figure, our postpartum tuina restores health, strengthens your body’s constitution, increases immunity, and accelerates womb recovery.
Can I undergo Qi’Nergy Postpartum Care immediately after giving birth?
The ideal time to receive Qi’Nergy Postpartum Tuina is 1 month after delivery. For mothers who are keen to undergo treatment earlier, here’s a simple guide to when you can begin treatment:
- Natural birth: 1 week after delivery
- Caesarean section: 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure for Qi’Nergy Postpartum Treatment without EMT; 6 months after the procedure for Qi’Nergy Postpartum Treatment EMT
Is Qi’Nergy Postpartum Tuina suitable for everyone?
This treatment is not recommended for people with any type of serious illness. It is also not suitable for those with skin conditions like severe dermatitis or eczema.
How soon can I expect to see results? How frequently must I come for Tuina?
It depends on the severity of your individual condition. Visible results are usually evident after 3 to 4 sessions. It is recommended to schedule sessions twice a week for optimal benefits.
Is HI-EMT safe for everyone?
It is generally safe for women who had a natural birth to start HI-EMT 1 week after childbirth, and 6 months for those who had a caesarean section. There is no anaesthetic administered, and the treatment will start from a low to high power for you to get comfortable with the sensation.
However, this is not recommended for people with any heart or lung condition, epilepsy, blood clothing disorders, liver or kidney diseases, high blood pressure, or any implanted electrical devices in the body.
What would I expect to feel in a HI-EMT session?
You will feel a mild discomfort (feels like a cramp), as your abdominal muscles are stimulated, which gets better as the muscles warm up. After the treatment, you will experience mild soreness for 1-2 days, like after an intense workout session.
