SHOULDER PAIN CAUSES
TCM view
From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shoulder pain is caused by:
- Qi and Blood Stasis: Blocked or stagnant Qi and blood flow in the shoulder area resulting in dull, aching pain and discomfort.
- Qi or Blood Deficiency: A deficiency in Qi or blood may also result in fatigue, poor circulation, weaken the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, making the shoulder more vulnerable to pain and injury.
- Cold Invasion: The impact of cold and damp environments on the shoulder causing pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint and surrounding tissues.
Western view
Shoulder pain may be an indication of injury and inflammation of the muscles, tendons, or other soft tissue around the shoulder area.
