What causes pain?

Based on TCM principles, pain is caused by qi and blood blockages in the body, which could be caused by various factors, such as injury, exposure to wind or dampness, overexertion, lack of rest, or an overall weak immunity. TCM treatments focus on improving qi and blood flow, thus reducing pain.

How does pain become chronic?

The term chronic pain refers to persistent or recurrent pain that lasts or occurs for more than three months. People tend to think chronic pain only occurs in the elderly, but recurrent and persistent aches and pains are becoming more common among young people as well. In a study done in 2016, about 14% of Singaporeans suffer from chronic pain.

TCM Management & Treatment for Pain

Acupuncture

TCM recognises that acupuncture can help to improve qi and blood flow, restoring balanced stability in our bodies. It is performed by inserting needles into your body to stimulate the release of natural chemicals to aid your body in healing itself and alleviate pain and inflammation.

Qi’Nergy Tuina

More than just a therapeutic massage, Qi’Nergy Tuina promotes health through clearing of Qi blockages and triggering of deep tissue healing. It combines the traditional tuina and acupressure massage with the Western methods of myofascial trigger point release and radio frequency energy that can help improve qi blood circulation, relieve pain conditions and improve digestion. The application of a higher frequency radio wavelengths is effective in reducing acute swelling and higher penetration of inflamed tissues, resulting in better tension relief. While a lower frequency wavelength along with the tuina massage is effective in treating patients who experience chronic painful conditions, allowing deeper reparative healing without triggering muscle excitability.
